Paver bids start at just $10!  All proceeds benefit the MLK Jr. Middle School art program.


Please join us for an evening of food, wine & music to celebrate the completion of the 2012 “Paving the Way” mosaic tile paver project.  “Paving the Way” brings students, artists, community volunteers, and neighborhood businesses together to create art, build community, and raise funds for art programs at the Martin Luther King Middle School.  This year, the program worked with 6th grade students at the Middle School to create over 100 mosaic pavers using broken tiles and ceramics which will be auctioned off at a celebratory fundraiser at the ACCI Gallery on the evening of May 18th.  Proceeds from the event will be donated back to the school to fund future student art activities. Chocolate & Chalk Art Festival

The sidewalks along North Shattuck Ave. in the Gourmet Ghetto in Berkeley are the target of artists young and old, professional and greenhorn during the during the 16th annual Chocolate & Chalk Art Festival. With no fees to artists, areas of sidewalk will be assigned to participants to create their own fanciful chalk drawings. A CHALK ART CONTEST for the best drawing will be judged after 4 p.m. First prize is $250 cash and runners-up get a gift certificate from Philz Coffee. Winners will be notified by Monday after.  Same-day registration takes place 10AM-5PM in event booths located at 1495 and 1673 Shattuck Ave. where special artist’s chalk is available for $10.
